During my studies of composition at the Conservatory of Amsterdam I felt the urge to broaden my thinking via other media: painting, drawing, etching, etc. Not to use it as a direct inspiration for my musical output. But rather as a tool to provoke my own way of thinking, of looking at things. ​I guess I wanted to try to analyse art and music, not by theory but by answering it with another artwork. "The best readings of art are art", writes George Steiner is his book 'Real Presences'.
